Linear High Build Epoxy Primer has outperformed all of the 11 other primers we have put it up against in nearly every category! This 4:1 true epoxy (not a hybrid) is designed to be used over bare metal, body worked over, and then used again as a high build primer over filler work. Using one bulletproof product throughout the body work process will provide excellent uniformity, meaning that everything will expand and contract at the same rate in environmental changes such as temperature. Back in the day the common practice was to use epoxy over metal, then a spray poly, and then a 2k urethane before paint. You no longer have to do this! All those products will shrink, expand and contract at different rates and can cause issues such as cracking or "phantom waves" in temperature changes. All color variations are gravimetrically identical meaning they can be mixed together any way you like to get any shade of the 3 colors. Using one primer from metal up combined with weighing your filler mixes will lead to no shrink back and excellent uniformity for a job that will last many years to come!
- Done shrinking in 24-48 hrs
- Highest dry film build
- True 76% solid content (what's left on the panel not solids by weight!) 4-6 mils dry film build per coat (1.7 TIP)
- Semi Gloss finish allows for a built-in guide coat to easily identify pinholes and imperfections
- Very easy sanding
- Excellent adhesion to bare metal DTM primer
- Excellent corrosion resistance with rust encapsulation and moisture scavenger properties

Primer works just as advertised spray different colors and I use them as guide coat
I purchased the L-411 primer after reviewing its advantages. I was sold on using one product for encapsulation, high build and some filler applied in between primer steps. I applied the primer on May 25, 2025. I'm a hobbyist and not green, but still at a learning novice level in regards to body finishes and restoration. My metal prep included paint stripping using that orange gel under plastic sheeting, scraping and cleaning old paint residue with denatured alcohol. It worked incredibly well. This gave me a good starting point for abrasives on bare metal. I used a 5" 80 grit DA with some hand block sanding. I cleaned the sanded metal with wax and grease remover, followed by a final acetone wipe down. With the humidity low, I was able to leave it overnight with no apparent flash rust. The next morning, I used the gravimetric table and interpolated what I needed for 14 ounces. I used 10% slow reducer and waited 20 minutes for the induction period. I live in the desert and needed to be done by noon when it was going to reach 95 degrees. I shot in the morning outside at 7:30am. I used a 1.7 tip HF HVLP Spectrum gun. My pressure regulated at the gun was 30 psi and a 8" fan. Unfortunately I had a small packing seal air leak in the gun that I couldn't quickly resolve, so I shot anyway. I shot the first coat at 80 degrees. After the first coat, I waited 45 minutes to ensure it flashed. It was still tacky enough to leave primer on a gloved finger. I figured it's warm and past 30 minutes - I should be okay. The second coat was applied at 85 degrees. I sprayed out of direct sunlight using a 10'x10' folding canopy. Relative humidity was about 30%. The applied primer was still tacky (glove test) after a few hours, but was completely dry by 6pm when it was still about 85 degrees. My overnight temperatures dipped down to 60F for the next two nights. I was just priming the bed interior and was able to safely cover it with a tarp, keeping the overnight temp's above 65F (being mindful of the 48 hour requirement). One tip regarding mixing. If the primer's been sitting a few months in the can, the high solids take some elbow grease to break loose. I used a wooden stirring stick to break up the thick layer of solids, followed by a $10 paint mixer on a battery powered hand drill.
It's a very good product. It sands easily and doesn't clog paper. If you consider steps saved and trying to navigate using different products, different primers, it's definitely worth it. I would buy it again and just bought another gallon. I have a few trucks to restore.
For the cost you would think they would protect the product better. Ordered 5-6-25 received 5-24-25 from Wisconsin to Cleveland,Oh.Cans beat to crap box fully intact. I'm not very happy so far. I hope someone there checks these reviews.im still optimistic about the performance, but dang!!!
Absolutely worth the cost. Be patient because this product requires 30 minutes between coats. You have to let it dry for 48 hours before sanding. If you can do that, you will not regret the results. Sprays great through a 1.8mm spray gun and sands nicely. In short, you get what you pay for. Check out their sanding blocks. Another game changer.
It sprayed really good, it sands nice and it builds good and it seems to stick very well. The price is alittle on the high side but it did save me an extra steps from my old way of doin things. It is a very very slow drying epoxy which some people may not like but it wasn’t a problem for me. But all in all I think it’s a real good product and I will be buying more in the future.
