Rigid vs Flex vs Ultra Flex — Quick Guide

Rigid: Flat panels only — hoods, roofs, deck lids. Also great for rough-cutting body filler.

Flex: The everyday workhorse. Follows gentle curves while keeping a true surface. The 18" flex is the most used block on any car.

Ultra Flex: Compound curves, rolled fenders, dramatic body lines. Longer blocks = more flex. The 32" wraps fenders that no other block can follow.

Very Impressive Tool

I bought several of the Linear Ultra Flex Blocks and tried the 24" on a door that I had just finished (I thought). When I re blocked it I was amazed at how it showed several spots that were low and still needed work.

I had done some block sanding with my 18 inch 3m sanding block and thought it looked pretty good,after purchasing the 24 inch ultra flex block and re-blocking those panels it showed otherwise,I have confidance its gonna be straight now!

So far I like it but maybe the sand paper I'm using I have to use my heat gun to get the sand paper off.

Ultra-Flex Perfect Flex!

24" of perfection. If you do a lot of curves double compound radius' or arches, or perhaps many high dollar vintage race cars then these blocks are essential in any kit. Doing restoration work far greater than the standards on the original car can be a daunting task, ask Chip Foose! On second thought, well he may never be ready to talk about his Lotus adventures even to this day, but at least it wasn't on a Type 14 Elite. Regardless sometimes if we understand just what the hell we're really getting ourselves into at times or not we still "Press - Onward and Upward!" These Ultra Flex Blocks are critical for any vehicles that are very keen on "Aerodynamic Principles" and if they're as important to the entire construction and strength of the car in it's light frailty of construction as say... a great lotoking (much better than) showroom finish, well then you simply NEED these blocks to keep all those curvy bits correct and laser smooth for the best airflow! On Elites Aerodynamics are everything, on a Francis Costin / John Frayling Elite it's cutting edge modifications from 1956 - 1963 era that were mostly never proved until many of NASCAR in America and European Race/SUPERCARS have brought engineering aerodynamics to the forefront of design and creativity. Convex to concave curves deserve "Linear Blocking Tools!" (period)
